Age Verification for Alcohol (18+)

Wines and other alcoholic beverages are also auctioned on Knalveilingen. Because the sale of alcohol in the Netherlands is legally restricted to individuals 18 years of age and older, we verify this at several points—during bidding, at checkout, and upon delivery.

1. When bidding

You may only bid if you are 18 or older

You may only bid on lots if you are 18 years of age or older. When you create your account, you confirm that you meet this requirement—this applies to any lot containing alcohol, regardless of whether you have it delivered or pick it up yourself.

2. At checkout

Another confirmation at checkout

If your order includes an alcoholic beverage, the checkout page will explicitly ask you to confirm once again that you are 18 years of age or older before you can complete your purchase.

3. Upon delivery

Always a real ID check

These statements are a first step, but they are no substitute for an in-person check. Your identification will be verified both when you pick up your order and when it is delivered.

Why do we monitor this so closely?

As sellers, we and our vendors are legally required to sell and deliver alcohol only to adults. This verification protects minors and ensures that Knalveilingen continues to comply with Dutch regulations.

Without valid identification at the time of delivery, we can never hand over or deliver an order containing alcohol—even if you have previously confirmed that you are 18 or older.

Valid documents

Passport, ID card, driver's license, or alien registration card—always the original, not a photocopy.

No ID = no delivery

If no one can prove they are 18 or older, the order will not be delivered.

Whether you pick it up from the vendor or have it delivered to your home, the process is the same.

Here's how the inspection is conducted, step by step

Create an Account

By registering, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older.

Step 2

Checkout

If your shopping cart contains alcohol, you'll need to confirm this again before you can pay.

Step 3

Pickup or Delivery

Please bring a valid form of identification with you, or have it ready at the door.

Step 4

ID Verification & Transfer

After a successful inspection, your order will be handed over to you.
