Age verification for alcohol (18+)
Knalveilingen also auctions wine and other alcoholic beverages. Because selling alcohol in the Netherlands is legally restricted to people aged 18 and over, we check this at several moments — when bidding, at checkout, and at delivery.
Only bid if you're 18+
You may only bid on lots if you are 18 or older. When creating your account, you confirm you meet this requirement — this applies to any lot containing alcohol, whether delivered or picked up.
One more confirmation
If your order contains an alcoholic product, the checkout page explicitly asks you to confirm once more that you are 18 or older before you can pay.
Always a real ID check
These confirmations are a first step, not a replacement for a physical check. Both at pickup and at home delivery, your ID is actually checked.
Why do we check this so strictly?
As a seller, we and our vendors are legally required to sell and deliver alcohol only to adults. This check protects minors and ensures Knalveilingen keeps complying with Dutch regulations.
Without a valid ID at delivery, we can never hand over an order containing alcohol — even if you already confirmed being 18+ online.
Valid documents
Passport, ID card, driving licence or residence document — always the original, no photo.
No ID, no delivery
If no one can prove they're 18 or older, the order will not be handed over.

How the check works, step by step
Create an account
At registration you confirm you are 18 or older.
Checkout
If your cart contains alcohol, you confirm this once more before paying.
Pickup or delivery
Bring a valid ID with you, or have it ready at the door.
ID check & handover
Once the check passes, your order is handed over.
